Class Info 「クラス情報」

Classes emphasize conditioning, footwork, quick draws and proper cutting techniques.  Kata is used to teach effective responses to different situations including surprise attacks and one-on-one fighting.  Students will also practice cutting with a live sword, once they have achieved a certain level of mastery, respect and safety.  The goal is to master the sword, as well as the self.

Class Times

Wednesdays      6:30PM - 8:30PM
Saturdays      2:00PM - 4:00PM
Tuesdays      7:45PM - 8:45PM    Sparring

All classes start with a traditional bow-in and group warm-up exercises, then move on to any specific lesson(s) for that day.    Each class will have a specific lesson for the whole class and time for each student to work on their own techniques suited to where they are in the curriculum.  For this reason, missing classes do not limit learning, only slow it down.  Classes end with a traditional bow-out and cleaning.

Lessons may include: 'kata', quick draw 'batto' techniques, sparring exercises, cutting drills or individual practice time.  Once a month, a special class is dedicated to target test cutting where students can practice live cutting.
